Pharma outsourcing: people on the move
Dr. Paul Bleicher, chairman and founder of US eClinical technology company Phase Forward, stepped down from his operational role at the end of October, but remains a member of the board of directors. Phase Forward president and CEO Bob Weiler has assumed Bleicher’s role as chairman.
Shabbir Anik joins Althea Technologies as president and CEO, and will lead the company's expansion of its product development, clinical trial and commercial manufacturing services.
Dr. Nicholas Moore has been named director of development and pharmacology in discovery R&D at AMRI. Moore will be responsible for the company’s internal R&D portfolio, including the progression of discovery phase programs and the guidance of emerging candidates toward clinical trials.
Also at AMRI, Dr. Gergely Makara has been named director of chemistry for European operations. Makara has responsibility for all European chemistry products and services including custom synthesis, medicinal chemistry, analytical services, library design and production.
PRA International has appointed epidemiologist Dr. Jerome Wilson as senior medical director of Late Phase Services. Wilson will provide consulting services and develop post-marketing strategies for PRA’s clients.
Michael Lawson has joined clinical research organisation Kendle as director, investor relations. Lawson is responsible for expanding the company's investor relations program to strengthen shareholder and analyst relations and ultimately grow the company's shareholder base.
Halloran Consulting Group, which specialises in clinical development services for established and emerging life sciences companies, has appointed Dr. Ulrich Elben as vice president, programme management and regulatory operations.
US contract manufacturer WellSpring Pharmaceutical has appointed Wendy Shusko as its new chief operating officer. It has also hired Wayne Miller to serve as vice president, sales and marketing, for its consumer brands division.
Dr. Janice Albrecht, vice president, clinical research gastroenterology and hepatology at Schering-Plough, has won the 2008 GCPj award for Clinical Research Professional of the Year. The GCPj Lifetime Achievement Award was scooped up by Dr. Alberto Grignolo, corporate vice president at Parexel Consulting.
Dr. Emilio Cordova has been appointed vice president of business development at bioanalytical services specialist CEDRA Corp. He formerly held the same position at Bioanalytical Systems Inc. (BASi).
Tara Webb has been named senior director of business development at the US-based Accelerated Community Oncology Research Network (ACORN).
