The agreement – financial terms of which were not disclosed – is designed to establish standardised testing processes for tumour samples across Acorn’s network of oncology community practices and hospitals.
The idea, according to Clarient’s owner GE Healthcare, is to develop an array of tumour-specific biomarkers based on initial patient diagnosis and use these to better determine the most appropriate treatments.
The accord will also allow Clarient and Acorn to match biomarker data with outcomes data from clinical trials to help identify new prognostic markers.
