Almac Clinical Service finished the first stage of construction at its $78m (€59m) facility in Pennsylvania, US last week, setting the final piece of steel framing in place in a ceremony attended by division president Robert Dunlop.

The facility, which is located at a 40-acre site in Lower Salford, will comprise a 166,600 square foot clinical supply warehouse as well as dedicated packaging, shipping and label control areas.

Almac is also building a 75,000 square foot administration and communications centre at the site, which is scheduled to become fully operational sometime in 2010.

Dunlop said that completion of the “North American Headquarters facility will support our continuing business growth and better enable the fulfillment of Almac's mission to advance human health by bringing new drugs to market sooner."
