Kendle is further expanding its reach across the globe, targeting the Asia Pacific and Latin America in its plans for to capitalise on the Phase I-III clinical development services market, tipped to reach $3.6bn this year.

The global contract research organisation (CRO) will soon open two new units focused on Phase I-III clinical services in these high-growth markets.

The new units will add to the company's existing Asia/Pacific operations in China, Australia and India and its current Latin American operations in Mexico and Peru.

After a buzz year for new contracts helped boost Kendle's fourth-quarter and 2005 earnings beyond analyst expectations, the move is part of the company's effort to drive growth further this year through three initiatives: strategic business expansion and diversification in high-growth markets; internal process improvement; and recruiting and retaining a highly skilled work force.
