Turkish CRO Mene Research has become the first trials group to be accredited by the country’s Ministry of Health under new trial laws introduced in January.

The new rules were introduced to bring the Turkish trials sector into line with regulations covering human studies conducted throughout Europe. A special focus was placed on the creation of ethics committees charged with training corporations and organisations on the most recent standards.

The growing demand for new trial locations that is currently sweeping the drug industry may well see Turkey follow eastern Europe as the newest hot destination for clinical development, meaning that Mene’s accreditation may be a real benefit for the firm.
