Target Health and LifeOnKey have partnered to combine their eClinical and electronic health record (EHR) software.

Integrating clinical trial software with EHRs will create a platform for managing and monitoring clinical trial patients and data. Jules Mitchel, president of Target Health, believes the firms are the first to offer a comprehensive package that integrates eClinical and EHRs.

The companies list a number of benefits different stakeholders can realise by adopting there comprehensive, web-based offering. For instance, the platform provides health care companies with an electronic clinical trial record they can use to manage and monitor patients through trials.

Clinicians can use the software to access the most recent medical information for their clinical trial patients. Accessing this data allows them to more efficiently track information, such as side effects and health improvements, while maintaining trial integrity.

"Through the smart application of information technology, we can help clinicians improve the clinical trial process from end-to-end - from better patient recruitment to more effective patient monitoring once the drug is on the market", said Linda Harnevo, CEO of LifeOnKey.

Mitchel and Harnevo also believe the partnership will support researchers’ efforts to track specific patient groups, follow of product use and evaluate patient outcomes over the long-term. Better compliance with clinical trial requirements is another potential benefit of the partnership

Patients will also benefit from the partnership. Using the software offering they can follow the progress of the clinical trial through their own patient health record.
