Growing demand for independent research staff and shrinking drug R&D spending were the key motivations behind ResearchPoint’s new staffing affiliate ResourcingPoint, according to spokesman Morgan Seaman.

He explained that ResourcingPoint is designed to help global clinical trial sponsors meet staffing requirements by providing clinical research associates (CRAs) on a contractual basis, rather than as part of a wider contract research agreement.

Seaman told Outsourcing-pharma that: “In the past few years, requests from our clients to provide independent services only, rather than full-service support, have increased dramatically.

Additionally, given the state of the economy in the US, many large and small companies have scaled back their outsourcing budgets,” he added explaining that the new firm will supply CRAs to clients without the overheads of a full-service research contract.

In collaboration with ResearchPoint, ResourcingPoint has developed a database of qualified independent researchers who, although managed from the firm’s HQ in Austin, Texas, will work on clinical projects at sites worldwide.

Being US-based does not mean that we do not have a global focus and mentality. Many of the same Independent Professionals used by local CROs around the globe also reside in our database,” explained Seaman.

He added that: “By design, ResourcingPoint was developed to be effective and efficient without a large infrastructure to enable us to be more competitively priced than full service CROs.”

ResourcingPoint will also work directly with contract research organisations (CROs) according to Seaman who said that: “We plan to help anyone who comes to us with a resourcing need we can fulfil.”
