Compliance consultant Sequence Inc. has partnered with software firm Adents to develop a track & trace solution for pharmaceutical products.

The partnership – financial terms of which were not disclosed – will meld Adents’ serialization and aggregation software with Sequence’s quality and compliance knowhow, with the idea being to help drug companies comply with evolving track & trace requirements in important markets.

We are confident that our customers will be extremely pleased with the Adents cutting-edge serialization and product traceability solution,” said Daniel Santarsiero VP of Business Development at Sequence.

We look forward to offering this easily upgraded product in response to customer requests for assistance in meeting the 2017 DSCSA serialization deadline that is fast approaching.”

This was echoed by James Cummings, Adents' VP Americas.

We welcome Sequence as a partner, and anticipate complete satisfaction of their customers with the way our serialization software product will allow them to achieve compliance and build a foundation for seamless global traceability in the future.”

US and EU

From 2019, all licensed pharmaceutical products sold in Europe will need to be marked with a serial number under supply chain security measures set out in the EU Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD).

Similar – albeit subtly different – serialization requirements will come into force in the US next year under the US Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA), which is part of the Drug Quality and Security Act (DSQA) signed into law in 2013.
