AMRI (Albany Molecular Research, Inc) has completed construction of its R&D facility in Budapest, Hungary, which forms part of the company’s goal of transforming its European operations.

In 2008 AMRI initiated a plan to focus its European operations in higher value discovery services and the 32,000 sq ft facility in Budapest is a “significant milestone” in this plan.

From the facility AMRI will offer services including parallel synthesis, fragment based drug discovery and synthetic chemistry services, the marker for which it predicts will double in the next five years.

In addition the site has a scale-up laboratory for non good manufacturing practice (GMP) synthesis of batches up to 25 litres.
