Almac hopes new capacity at its US facility in Durham, North Carolina will promote greater synergy between its clinical services and diagnostics units for the benefit of its customers.

The 67,000 sq ft expansion, which was completed on Tuesday, doubles space available at the facility, adding 30,000 feet of warehousing space with two new loading docks, as well as 3,000 extra pallet locations for the storage

Almac said increasing pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry demand for clinical supply management services was the key driver for the expansion.

Construction is also continuing at Almac’s new US HQ in Lower Salford, Pennsylvania and, according to the firm, work on the new facility is on schedule to complete sometime in 2010.
