Avantor site launches with biopharma lean
The Bridgewater Innovation Center, housed in the New Jersey Center of Excellence, is comprised of 27,000 square feet of laboratory space, including research tools, cleanroom facilities, multiple mass spectrometers, bioreactors and particle size analysers.
Avantor’s global director of R&D and bioprocessing Brian Beyer said the site can serve companies looking for recombinant protein engineering, protein expression, purification and trace characterisation.
“We also have research platforms to investigate new excipient formulations to enhance API [active pharmaceutical ingredient] stability,” he said.
Executive vice president and chief technology officer Ashish Kulkarni did not disclose which suppliers equipped the facility, but told us most of the technology replicates equipment customers use.
“Key focus areas at the facility currently include biopharma, analytical science, drug formulation and delivery and electronic materials,” said Kulkarni.
The firm told us it is hiring at the Bridgewater site, as well as at other research and application facilities globally.
