Nabi spokesman Greg Fries told Outsourcing-pharma that Diosynth will make the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), coAMNic-rEPA, combine it with an adjuvant for filling at another third party facility.
Fries explained that Diosynth has already produced commercial-scale lots of the drug substance on Nabi’s behalf which, he added, was the critical factor in winning the US contract manufacturing (CMO) the contract.
UK drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) paid Nabi $40m for an exclusive option to license NicVax in late 2009.
