Selexis SA has expanded laboratory and production capacity at its cell line facility in Geneva, Switzerland, citing growing drug industry demand for outsourced cell-line engineering.

The expansion, which roughly doubles cell line manufacturing capacity, includes a protein purification technology unit for the production of development-scale batches.

CEO Igor Fisch explained that: “Our expansion was prompted by the global demand for outsourcing cell line engineering, the manufacturing of recombinant protein for pre-clinical research and interest in biosimilars as well as emerging technologies such as protein scaffolds.”

The new capacity is part of a wider growth plan that will see Selexis hire additional R&D and sales staff. The firm did not respond to a request for additional information
