The US NIH has awarded AMRI a contract worth up to $43m (€30m) to provide medicinal chemistry services in support of neurological drug discovery.

Using initial funding of up to $10m AMRI will support neuroscientists with services including in vitro metabolic testing and compound design. AMRI claims its experience working with large pharma clients led the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) to award it the contract.

This significant award demonstrates the NIH’s new focus on helping support the translation of basic research discoveries in areas of unmet medical need to potential drug candidates” Thomas D’Ambra, CEO of AMRI, said.
