The full accreditation by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) International Council is the company’s fourth as it looks to have all of its sites accredited.

Envigo has announced that its contract research facilities in Barcelona, Spain have been granted full accreditation by the AAALAC International Council.

According to the company, the AAALAC noted recent enhancements at the company’s Barcelona facilities in Santiga and Castellar. These include a recently built surgery room, refurbished areas for research and animal boarding, in addition to a new facility monitoring system.

Earlier this year Envigo also announced its sites in Bresso, Italy and Wyton, UK earned their accreditation from the lab animal treatment watchdog.

The accreditations follow several investments in people, processes, and facilities since Envigo’s acquisition of its research models business nearly two years ago.
