Contract discovery and development firm Evotec will receive a milestone payment after CXL-1020, a candidate heat failure drug it has been developing with Cardioxyl Pharmaceuticals, moved into clinical trials.

The Anglo-German company has worked with Cardioxyl Pharmaceuticals for more than three years, providing medicinal chemistry support for lead optimization and preclinical development activities.

Mario Polywka, Evotec’s COO, said that CXL-1020’s progression “further validates our ability and expertise in advancing programmes through lead optimization and into the clinic. We are delighted that the significant efforts of Evotec and Cardioxyl have paid off with the progression of this project into the clinic so rapidly.”
