Lilly and Suven’s CNS discovery accord identifies 1st candidate

Indian CRAMS firm Suven Life Sciences says its discovery partnership with US drugmaker Eli Lilly is beginning to yield results.

The Hyderabad firm reported that Lilly has selected a candidate to take into lead optimization, triggering the first milestone payment that Suven that has received under the collaboration.

In 2008, Suven won the contract to provide discovery services to help identify potential new drugs for Lilly’s central nervous disorder (CNS) pipeline.

Lilly is responsible for moving the drug into the lead optimisation stage of preclinical development as well as any future clinical development and commercialisation. Suven is set to receive additional milestone payments as development progresses.
