US CRO Symyx has adopted the Safe-BioPharma Associations digital signature standards for its electronic laboratory notebook to” ensure that sensitive intellectual property is securely captured and managed.”

The Safe-BioPharma standards are used to mitigate legal, regulatory and other business risk associated with business-to-business and business-to-regulator electronic transactions.

Safe-BioPharma CEO Mollie Shields-Uehling said that applying signatures “to mission-critical documents establishes a robust and defensible record of invention for R&D companies needing to protect and defend their IP."

Trevor Heritage, president of Symyx’ software unit, said that joining Safe-BioPharma brings the firm into line with major pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer, Eli Lilly and AstraZeneca.
