The new laboratory, which will be located on a 40 acre site at the Beribi Industrial Park, is part of an RM150m (€30m) effort to boost Malaysian local drug production capacity and reduce the cost of medicines. Vivo Bio is partnering the Melaka State Development Corporation on the project.
Melaka chief minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam told Bernama that: "This is a major biotech project in Malaysia. It will create a new atmosphere for local scientists in biotechnology, which is the new growth engine for our economy while helping promote better healthcare.”
