Carestream sells preclinical imaging biz to Bruker
Carestream Health has offloaded most of its preclinical molecular imaging systems in a deal with Bruker.

Under the agreement Bruker will pick up the firm’s optical and X-ray systems for small animal imaging, for which Carestream also provided the services to maintain and use them.

Of its molecular imaging business, Carestream says it will keep just its life science X-ray film product line.

The only services it plans to keep are the ones offered to current customers of its Gel Logic and Image Station in vitro imaging systems.

In a statement, Bruker president Werner Maas said: “We believe that Carestream’s optical molecular imaging product line will complement our other preclinical solutions, presently consisting of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), magnetic particle imaging (MPI) and X-ray micro computed tomography (microCT).”

However he did not mention whether Bruker would handle the maintenance and training services for the new customers Carestream says it will not handle.

A spokesperson for Carestream simply told DotMed News: "This decision to sell aligns the digital in-vivo product line with a company with a primary focus on this market segment."

When Outsourcing-Pharma.com contacted the firm nobody was available to comment.
