Envigo has collaborated with InterTek and OCSiAl to develop TUBALL™ single wall carbon nanotubes, which is the first of its kind to complete REACH registration.

In the pharmaceutical industry, carbon nanotubes are used in drug delivery and biosensing technology. SWNTs specifically, have been shown to improve solubility and efficiency in drug targeting/delivery.

SWCNT are already widely used by organizations that require it to improve their existing products or to create new ones,” Joseph Bedford, Corporate Vice President, Strategic Marketing, Envigo, told us.

According to the company, OCSiAl is the world's first manufacturer of single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) to complete REACH registration.

In a commercial sense this registration is really important because it’s the first one of its kind and opens up the market for single wall carbon nanotubes to start being used in industrial scales,” said Bedford.

However, more broadly, Bedford explained the product’s registration will reduce the number of actual materials necessary to create more efficient products.

Bedford said, “This shift to less materials will play a key role in reducing carbon emissions, helping to reduce the degradation of the earth’s biosphere, and empowering people worldwide to raise their standard of living.”

Moving forward, OSCiAl will test TUBALL for various applications on an ongoing basis with Envigo.
