Outsourcing-Pharma presents a roundup of eClinical news, including developments at BioClinica, OmniComm, ePharmaSolutions and MedNet.

BioClinica has updated its Express EDC (electronic data capture) system to improve integration with Trident IWR (interactive web response) and OnPoint CTMS (clinical trial management system).

Integration with other products in the eClinical range allows real-time data exchange to support visit status updates or site payment data. BioClinica has built the portfolio over the past few years after adding eClinical capabilities to its traditional focus on clinical trial imaging.

"Sponsors and CROs (contract research organisations) can choose any of our world-class solutions as a stand-alone or a starting point, then augment functionality for any study when they need it", Peter Benton, president of eClinical solutions at BioClinica, said.

OmniComm Systems is bundling PharmaPros’ Dataflow Manager with its TrialMaster EDC entering into a strategic partnership. Dataflow Manager is a cloud-based system to view and manage data on studies, sites, subjects, visits and other aspects of clinical trials.

The convergence of EDC solutions like our TrialMaster with business intelligence tools like Dataflow Manager, will significantly reduce the burden put on our customers to improve clinical trial efficiency while reducing costs”, Stephen Johnson, chief operating officer at OmniComm, said.

PharmaPros and OmniComm have collaborated for three years and used an integrated system on eight trials. Strengthening the relationship allows OmniComm to include Dataflow Manager in its eClinical suite and sell the system independently.

US-based ePharmaSolutions has implemented a two-way text messaging system for clinical trial patient recruitment and retention. Texts are sent to remind patients of upcoming visits in an attempt to cut clinical trial dropout rates.

Adoption of text messaging to retain patients has, according to ePharmaSolutions, been limited by the work required to enter patient information, visit schedule and reminder information. By linking to data sources ePharmaSolutions thinks it has overcome this barrier.

Our integrations with leading CTMS and IVRS vendors make it simple to auto-populate study information to reduce site workload and has been incorporated into patient recruitment manager application”, Steven Beales, ePharmaSolutions vice president of information technology, said.

MedNet Solutions has created a partner programme for CROs. The initiative, called iMedNet CRO Partner Program, is based around the cloud-based EDC system the company introduced earlier this month.

By joining the programme CROs: lower costs by avoiding upfront fees for the EDC system; receive training for all staff involved in the design and configurations of studies using the technology; and benefit from marketing support from MedNet.
