Trial participant payment tech firm Greenphire has moved to a new Philadelphia headquarters to add capacity and plans to hire 40 more staff by the end of the year.

The move saw Greephire set up shop at a 18000sqft site in King of Prussia according to a spokeswoman who said the 65 staff employed at the firm's old headquarters in the town will transfer to the new office.

She told Outsourcing-pharma.com that Greenphire is "anticipating growth to over 100 staff by the end of 2015."

The extra space available at the new office is a vital part of sustaining the firm's recent growth according to company chief experience officer, Jennifer Peters, who said: "It is essential we build capacity to expand our team and suite of technologies and services."

"Since the inception of the company, Philadelphia has continuously provided a deep pool of inspired and talented individuals... Our new location will be key in continuing to drive the company forward" Peters said.

Greenphire came to prominence as one of the firm's involved in Pfizer's REMOTE virtual trial where it employed its electronic payment technology.

The study - which sought to gather data from patients electronically - failed to recruit sufficient patients.

However, while the setback prompted Pfizer to rethink its approach it served as the launchpad for Greenphire.

In the years since Greenphire has formed a number of collaborations - teaming with Almac, Merge and Ernst & Young.

Greenphire and peers CFS and Cliniverse are benefiting from increasing sponsor demand for efficiency in a trend analogous to the growth of the electronic data capture industry.
