Bayer Technology Services GmbH, an affiliate of Germany's Bayer, has opened its first regional office in India, enlarging its presence in the fast-growing Asian markets.
The unit specialises in process development and in-process and plant engineering, as well as construction and optimisation of manufacturing processes through process analysis and control and improving supply chain and logistics.
The inauguration took place only a few weeks after Bayer Technology Services opened a regional hub in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The company said it now boasts a strong Asian network under the oversight of its regional headquarters in Shanghai, China.
Dr. Armin Knors, managing director of Bayer Technology and Engineering (Shanghai), said that the company’s competence in Asia lies in its knowledge of the local market coupled with global expertise and its professional team.
“We see great potential in this market. We are also fully capable to stand locally as a trustee to our customers in evaluating and supplying high quality technical equipment made in Asia to the customers worldwide,” he said. Achim Noack, managing director of Bayer Technology Services, said the portfolio the company now offers covers all phases of capital investment projects, as well as technological solutions and optimisation tools to improve energy efficiency or supply chains. Bayer Technology Services employs nearly 2,600 staff worldwide, and in 2008 had sales of approximately €420m. It was spun out of Bayer in 2003, and continues to support its former parent in the design, construction and optimisation of plants, in addition to marketing these services to external customers worldwide.
