Voridian contract for Eastman

plants in Columbia and in Cosoleacaque, Veracruz, Mexico.
Emerson Process Management has received a multi-year contract from Voridian, a division of Eastman Chemical, to upgrade automation systems at Voridian's polyethylene terephthalate (PET) polymers plants in Columbia and in Cosoleacaque, Veracruz, Mexico.
Automation systems for the Columbia facility, the largest manufacturing plant in the world for PET polymers for packaging, will be upgraded to Emerson's PlantWeb digital plant architecture with a DeltaV automation system over a six-year period.
An additional automation installation will be done at Voridian's PET polymers plant in Cosoleacaque, Mexico. Voridian PET polymers are used in making bottles and containers for soft drinks, beer, water, milk and other beverages, and packaging of food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
The Voridian project includes the use of Emerson's new migration products for field connection, control, and operator interface to convert another supplier's distributed control system (DCS) platform to Emerson's PlantWeb digital plant architecture.
"Emerson was selected as Voridian's partner in these projects because of the many successful installations of PlantWeb digital plant architecture with DeltaV that have been done worldwide," said Barry Falin, vice president of global manufacturing for Voridian. "We looked at Emerson's experience, its products for migrating from our existing platform to DeltaV, and its outstanding reputation for customer service and technical support, and determined they were the best choice for us."
