Brookfield has introduced the YR-1 Rheometer, designed to provide a simple to operate, low-cost alternative to full-featured laboratory rheometers for quality control applications.

The new system can be used to measure the flow of viscous liquids either in the laboratory or on the production floor, according to Brookfield. The company is emphasising the YR-1's ease of use; operators select a desired test using the bundled software, lower the device's vane spindle into the product and obtain a single shear stress readout at the touch of a button.

Meantime, two other new products introduced by the company are the AST-100 for direct in-line viscosity measurement and the R/S Soft Solids Tester, a controlled rate/controlled stress rotational rheometer designed to measure lumpy or viscoelastic materials.
