Switzerland's Tecan has introduced a range of laboratory automation workstations, under the Freedom EVO banner, which are designed to provide fluid handling applications in genomics, proteomics, drug discovery and clinical diagnostics.
Jan Timmers, who heads up Tecan's Biopharma and Clinical Diagnostics areas, said that the new platform can cope with a braod range of applications, "from drug screening and ADME [absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion], nucleic acid sample preparation and protein crystallization solutions up to powerful workstations for clinical diagnostics".
The company is highlighting the Freedom EVO's modular and scaleable design, that allows it to be customised for different uses, and its compatibility with not only Tecan's detection, separation and storage devices but also those from third parties.
