IBC is holding its 3rd international conference on Small Molecule & Protein Structure-Based Drug Discovery by Design on 8-10 October 2003 in San Diego, USA.

The company said that the event will include five keynote presentations on high-speed crystallography, inhibitors of de novo purine synthesis, successes and failures in drug design, genomics and inhibitors of protein-protein interactions. It will also feature case studies on current strengths and weaknesses in new methods and approaches, new tools and techniques to solve the structures of previously inaccessible targets, methods to improve lead generation, target identification and drug candidate quality, as well as the most likely advances in the coming 3-5 years.

"Today, in an environment of shrinking budgets and the dire need to deliver new compounds into the pipeline that have true potential, researchers have little room for error in the discovery and development of new drugs. The recent advances in the tools and methods for structure-based drug design have given us better ways to deliver quality targets and compounds into the drug pipeline," said IBC.

The conference will be held in conjunction with the 2nd annual Protein Interactions event where top industry experts will share data and first-hand experiences on the critical elements required for the successful interpretation and application of protein interactions, including; protein folding, high throughput protein expression, structural and functional analysis techniques, networking pathways and target-based protein interactions.
