The European Commission has published a call for research proposals
in the area of life sciences, genomics and biotechnology for
health.

The European Commission has published a call for research proposals in the area of 'life sciences, genomics and biotechnology for health,' and is sitting on a €411 million budget to distribute to successful tenders.

Among the areas covered by this call are advanced genomics and its applications to health, including research on fundamental knowledge and basic tools for functional genomics in all organisms, and the application of knowledge and technologies in the field of genomics and biotechnology for health. A second crucial area is application-orientated genomic approaches that are specifically directed towards major diseases.

The tender offer​ has been made under the Comission's FP6 (Sixth Framework Programme), and the deadline for proposals is 13 November 2003.
