Clear benefits from new Multicheck V
sample weight, thickness, diameter and hardness. The machine can
cope with irregular-shaped and coated tablets.
Erweka has introduced a completely redesigned version of its Multicheck machine for full automatic measurement of sample weight, thickness, diameter and hardness for round, irregular-shaped or even sugar-coated tablets.
The company has designed the system with a clear plastic casing to allow observation of the testing process as it takes place and, with a nod to the trend taking place in the personal computer market, will even supply it in a range of colours.
The Multicheck V system is designed to cope with two types of hardness testing - Constant Speed and Constant Force - and can be switched between them during a run. It also offers fully-automatic speed adjustment of the tablet singulation and transport path, advanced sample size and surface compatibility, a high-accuracy thickness measuring system and an alignment tool for unusually shaped oblongs and coated tablets, according to Erweka.
The samples are individualised automatically by a self-adjusting three-step vibration system and then deposited onto the weight measurement boat. From there they are transported to the test stations by a linear feeder. In addition, Erweka notes that an innovative down holder in the hardness test station is available as an option. A patented step in the transport way allows the machine to switch tablets which tend to lay on their sides.
