Steritest pump adapted for use in isolators

Millipore has launched a new version of its Steritest Equinox pump
for sterility testing designed to work with pharmaceutical
isolation units.

The software controlled peristaltic pump can be installed in both glove and half suit isolators. Lab technicians can use the system for uniform transfer of drug samples from various packaging formats to Millipore's Steritest and Steritest EZ testing devices. Using a mounting kit, the pump can be fixed directly to an isolator worktable.

"The pump delivers consistent testing in a secure environment and reduces overall testing time, said Millipore.

Analysts can download custom procedures from a computer onto the pump, which prompts them through selected standard operating procedures (SOP). A patented auto-close pump head simplifies the loading and unloading of the device's tubing without the risk of damaging the isolator gloves. In addition, a pressure control system consistently monitors the pressure inside each canister. This profile ensures perfect decontamination inside isolators, eliminating the risk of false positives.

This is the latest in a series of new extensions to Millipore's Steritest range, which has been used in the pharmaceutical industry for over 20 years. The Steritest Equinox pump is also available in a model intended for sterility testing in laminar flow hoods (pictured), according to Millipore. And earlier this year the company launched its Steritest EZ testing range for sterility testing of large volume parenterals and synthetic drugs.

Sterility testing is one of the most crucial steps in pharmaceutical product release. False positives, equipment failure and human error can cost you time, money and ultimately your product," said Millipore.
