Ekisigent launches next-gen proteomics system

Eksigent Technologies launches its liquid chromatography system for
nanospray mass spec analysis that allows sample loading at higher
flow rates, making it suitable for proteomics and biomarker
discovery applications.

The NanoLC-1D Plus system uses Microfluidic Flow Control (MFC) to generate precise LC gradients at nanoscale flow rates. This increases mass spectrometer sensitivity and improves identification of low-abundance proteins.

The system incorporates Eksigent's Dynamic Flow Control capability, which allows the flow rate to be changed rapidly for higher speed sample loading or for extended MS/MS analysis (peak parking) to identify co-eluting and low abundance peptides. Binary solvent delivery, high pressure gradient mixing, autosampler, and PC-based instrument control are provided in the compact NanoLC-1D system.

The NanoLC-1D Plus is configured with a third pump for rapid sample loading and washing. The new pump and flow controller technology allows precise operation at higher pressure, 5500 psi, for higher resolution in nanobore columns.

The system incorporates a flow meter design that improves flow precision for a wider variety of mobile phases. By eliminating flow splitting, Eksigent's proprietary microfluidic technology improves reproducibility and sensitivity and eliminates solvent waste.

The NanoLC, which made its debut two years ago, is ideal for LC/MS identification of low-abundance proteins. "Precise control at low flow rates is the key to providing reproducible separations with high mass sensitivity. The precision of our pump technology eliminates flow splitting entirely," said David Neyer, proteomics technical director.

"Our robust system wastes less solvent, requires less maintenance, dramatically improves reproducibility, and allows data-dependent peak parking for improved detection sensitivity," he added.

The NanoLC-1D Plus system includes all of the capabilities and benefits of its predecessor NanoLC-1D system with the added capability of a dedicated sample-loading pump for rapid sample loading and washing. The sample-loading pump injects samples at up to 30 µL/min onto trap or analytical columns, quickly loading large samples.

The NanoLC-1D Plus is available now, with further details available on Eksigent's website.
