Thermo introduces enhanced pipetting aid

The analytical instrument specialists have introduced this instrument with a view to minimising errors during the human handling of fluid volumes. Whilst wholly unavoidable, human interaction is a primary source of laboratory inaccuracy.

Primarily aimed at the liquid handling requirements across the pharma, biotech, academic, chemical, environmental and clinical sector, Thermo's Finnpipette BioMate plus uses a motor that allows faster pipetting of volumes from 1-100 ml, with batteries that last up to 8 hours under constant use.

Comfort and grip are assured by the lightweight, and ergonomic design, which features a new oval-shaped handle for greater 'fit' in the palm. Soft touch controls and the 'slide switch' give the user improved flow control.

The Finnpipette BioMate plus can be fitted with all standard plastic and glass pipettes, and when not in use the stand supports the Finnpipette BioMate plus and fitted pipette in multiple positions.

With easier selection of the aspiration and dispensing speeds using the slide switch, both small and large volumes can be handled with greater speed and precision.

This fine control is coupled with a powerful motor, which can fill even large pipettes very quickly, and a blowout function, which ensures 100 per cent of the contents are dispensed.

As with all of the products in Thermo's extensive Finnpipette range, the BioMate plus is designed with user comfort and safety as a priority.

The oval handle fits to the contours of the hand, ensuring a secure grip with both the slide switch and valve control within easy reach, and the soft-touch, motorised control minimises any risk of repetitive strain injury.

Furthermore, an exchangeable, in-line PTFE filter provides protection against toxic or corrosive fumes and substances.

As a result, liquid handling with the Finnpipette BioMate is safer, easier and more consistent than with tradition pipettes across all volumes from 1 to 100 ml.
