The US company received the same award in December 2005, when it also earned the top ranking for customer satisfaction of healthcare outsourcing services based on KLAS' study. The study also revealed that 100 per cent of the company's customers said they would buy services from Eclipsys again and would recommend it to their peers. "Eclipsys has done a tremendous job managing our entire IT operations and it's not surprising to see the company retain its Best in KLAS ranking," said one such customer, Sean Barden, chief financial officer of Lake Forest Hospital. "Outsourcing our IT department to Eclipsys has proven to be a great decision as we are realising a far greater return on our IT investment." This year, Eclipsys outsourcing services also received recognition from other industry associations, including the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) and the Outsourcing Center. Meanwhile, a report published last month confirmed that IT is the most commonly outsourced process in the pharma industry, with 72 per cent of companies surveyed already outsourcing IT, while 17 per cent are in the process of doing so and 22 per cent have no intention. In addition, more companies in the pharmaceutical industry than any other industry are set to increase their reliance on information technology (IT) outsourcing this year, according to Equaterra, the consulting company that produced the research. It concluded that cost savings are the primary driver for this growth spurt in regards to IT outsourcing. KLAS is a US-based independent research and consulting firm specialising in monitoring and reporting the performance of healthcare information technology vendors and healthcare professional services firms.
