Pharmaceutical outsourcing: people on the move

Outsourcing-Pharma.com presents its periodic round-up of personnel changes in the pharmaceutical outsourcing arena, with senior appointments at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Parexel and GVK Bio, amongst others.

Bristol-Myers Squibb​ has named Quentin Roach​ to the post of senior vice president and chief procurement officer, responsible for global leadership for supplier relationship management, company-wide sourcing strategies, and procurement of all materials and services. Prior to joining BMS Roach was at Bausch & Lomb.

GVK Biosciences​, which ranks among the leading contract research organizations in India, has appointed Professor Tarun Khanna​ of Harvard Business School to its board of directors. D.S. Brar, chairman of GVK Bio, said Khanna’s “vast experience in global strategy and understanding of the emerging markets will facilitate GVK BIO to grow to the next level.​”

Parexel International​ has promoted Mark Goldberg​ to the post of chief operating officer. Dr Goldberg previously served as president of clinical research services and perceptive informatics at Parexel, and he will continue to oversee these areas of the company. He will report to Josef Rickenbach, chairman and CEO of Parexel.

Indian contract research and manufacturing services (CRAMS) specialist Ankur Drugs​ has appointed Jayesh Trivedi​ as head of regulatory affairs and international operations. Trivedi formerly worked at both Ranbaxy and Nicholas Piramal as head of their outsourcing divisions.

Contract sales organisation (CSO) PDI​ has announced the retirement of Michael Marquard​ as chief executive officer and begun a search for a new CEO.

Kendle​ has appointed Stephen Moore​ as principal CMC (chemistry, manufacturing and controls) Consultant in the company’s regulatory affairs and quality group. Moore joins Kendle after 17 years of experience with the US Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.

UK drug discovery technology and services firm Cyprotex​ has announced that non-executive directors Martial Lacroix​ and Minhaz Manji​ have resigned with immediate effect.

John Russell​ has left his position as general counsel at Quintiles Transnational​ to join US lawfirm K&L Gates at its practice in Research Triagle Park, North Carolina. Russell will serve as a partner in K&L Gates’ life science practice.

Biomedical Systems​, which provides diagnostic services to the clinical trial industry, has named Eliana Burke​ to the post of business development director, imaging services. Burke has previously held positions with PPD, Medifacts and ICON LLC.

PA Consulting Group​ has appointed Martin Smith​ as the new head of its Healthcare & Technology Group, Smith succeeds Alec MacAndrew​, who retires this month.

UK-based company Asterand​, which provides human tissue and services to pharmaceutical companies, has named Jill Force​ and Robert Salisbury​ as non-executive directors. Mina Sooch and John Cullinane have stepped down from the board.
