Pharma manufacturing products: News in brief
Genevac launches new freeze-dryer
Genevac has launched its new VirTis Ultra Series Freeze Dryer, which it has designed to handle a range of applications from Phase I to the manufacture of clinical trial batches.
Based on recommendations from users, Genevac has changed its latest model to handle larger batch development and processing. The company also claims to have improved product uniformity and made validation of operating procedures easier.
Genevac says the freeze dryer can have up to 2.13m² of useable shelf area in a footprint of 1.13m², with arrangements of up to 15 shelves available and variable interspacing to accommodate different product containers.
Shelf temperatures of -70°C and condenser temperatures of -90°C can be achieved, according to Genevac. The company believes that this will routinely ensure a successfully and efficiently dried product.
The freeze dryer is available with condenser capacity on of 25, 35 or even 50 litres, allowing for the processing of large quantities of bulk material.
Lock updates MET30+ metal detector
Lock Inspection Systems will have a range of metal detectors and checkweighers on show at the upcoming Pack Expo.
The MET30+Universal digital metal detectors and checkweighers will be on display, which Lock claims can provide accurate, reliable detection of metallic contamination for pharmaceutical manufacturers.
Lock’s machine uses a single high frequency, crystal-controlled oscillator, which it claims offers up to 40 per cent higher sensitivity than standard detectors. This is coupled to Lock's exclusive digital filtering software.
The MET30+ has now been equipped with the new IP69K rated heavy duty washdown touchscreen interface. Lock claims that the rugged design of the interface’s membrane keypad lends it to use in harsh production environments.
Lock representatives will be at Pack Expo booth S-1366, which begins on November 9 in Chicago, USA.
New closures from AdvantaPure
AdvantaPure has launched a range of closures and stoppers for containers used in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical processing.
The products are manufactured from platinum-cured silicone, which AdvantaPure claims is biologically safe and well suited for use in pharmaceutical, biotech, biomedical, and laboratory environments.
By using its products pharmaceutical companies will ensure aseptic fluid transfer, sealing, filling, and sampling, according to AdvantaPure.
The closures are free of animal-derived ingredients and meet US Pharmacopoeia (USP) Class VI and US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards.
