Outsourcing-Pharma.com presents its latest round-up of new appointments, employment moves and personnel news in the pharmaceutical contract services sector.

QPS subsidiary Bio-Kinetic Clinical Applications​, which focuses on Phase I testing services, has appointed Mark Slama​ as general manager. Slama was formerly director of clinical operations at Qualia Clinical Services.

Irish contract research organisation ICON has named Dr Guy Dewil​ to the post of chief operating officer at ICON Central Laboratories​. Dewil’s role will be to manage the division’s global operations, which operate from facilities in Farmingdale in New York, Dublin, Ireland and Singapore.

Dr Ravi Pawa​ has been appointed medical advisor at site management organisation Synexus​, effective 22 September. He joins Dr John Robinson, senior medical advisor, in the SMO’s newly created Global Medical Affairs department.

Preclinical research services provider Wolfe Laboratories​ has named Roger Rush​ as vice president of preclinical development.

RadPharm​, which provides centralised imaging review services to the biopharmaceutical industry, has appointed Kevin Duffy​ as vice president, sales and marketing and global business development.

Xcelience​ has appointed three business development associates - namely Omar Lamm​, Dontae Solomon​ and Robert Steitz​. Lamm will be handling sales and client relations for Xcelience's southeast region, Solomon will handle sales efforts for the southwest region, and Steitz will support the CRO's sales efforts in the mid-Atlantic region. Also joining Xcelience as director of marketing and strategic development is Kim Black-Washington​, previously director of marketing at MDS Pharma Services.

Tony Rao​ of engineering firm Stantec​ has been elected president of the New England Chapter of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers. Rao leads Stantec’s life sciences division.

Christine Poon​, vice chairman of Johnson & Johnson​ and worldwide chair of its pharmaceuticals division. will retire on March 1, 2009.

MediGene​ has named Dr Hans Joachim Bochtler​ as vice president, clinical research & development. He succeeds Dr Axel Mescheder, who was appointed executive board member for R&D in May.

Clinical research software and services company Nextrials​ has announced the appointment of chief technology officer, Robert Barr​, and vice president of global sales and marketing, Michelle Dockhorn​, to its executive staff.

At media-buying service company Compas​, Nicole Woodland-DeVan​, formerly executive director, promotional purchasing, has been promoted to vice president, Beyond Branding.

eClinical specialist etrials Worldwide​ has named Joseph Trepanier III​ as permanent secretary and chief financial officer. Trepanier has been serving as interim secretary and CFO since May and had previously been etrials' corporate controller and vice president of finance.
