Outsourcing-Pharma.com presents its periodic round-up of executive appointments in the contract services sector.

Charles River Laboratories International​ has promoted Dr Christophe Berthoux​ to the newly-created position of executive vice president, global sales and marketing, and chief commercial officer.

Celera​ has appointed of Christopher Hall​ as chief business officer of Berkeley HeartLab​, a subsidiary which offers services to predict cardiovascular disease risk and improve patient management.

Albany Molecular Research Inc​ has named Gergely Makara​ as director of chemistry for European operations, responsible for all European chemistry products and services including custom synthesis, medicinal chemistry, analytical services, library design and production.

Former etrials chief operating officer Peter Benton​ has been named president of Phoenix Data Systems​, the eClinical division of Bio-Imaging Technologies. Benton succeeds Dr William Claypool, who is leaving PDS to start a consulting company.

Contract research organisation Kendle​ has appointed Michael Lawson​ as director, investor relations.

US CRO Bio-Quant​ has appointed Dr Roberto Crea​, one of the scientific co-founders of Genentech, to its board of directors.

BioXcel​, which offers business analytics and intellectual property services to pharma and life sciences companies, has appointed three new board members, namely: Christopher Seaton​ of Bayer Healthcare; Martha Matteo​, recently retired from Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals; and Kevin Rakin​ of Advanced BioHealing

Erin Sullivan​, a specialist in reimbursement, health economics, and health policy issues, has joined US-based CRO Abt Bio-Pharma Solutions​ as senior director, reimbursement and health economics. In addition, David McGuire has joined the company to lead its International Health division focused on commercial alliances and health services delivery.

Clinical software company Nextrials​has added new business development directors to its sales force to boost its regional representation. Scott Steward​ is based in Texas, and was formerly at ePharmaSolutions. Virginia Smith​ is based in North Carolina, and was formerly a senior coordinator for access to patients at Quintiles. Denise Bowen​ in New Jersey joined from Covance, and Alan Arroyo​ in California was formerly associate director of clinical operations at biotech company Novacea.

Chemical distribution group Univar​ has appointed John van Osch​ as group senior vice president, Europe, effective January 1, 2009. He will report directly to Gary Pruitt, Univar’s President and CEO.

Tara Webb​ has been appointed senior director of business development at US CRO Accelerated Community Oncology Research Network​ (ACORN).
