Google’s VC could be boost for biotech
Google has set up a venture capital fund that will be used to invest in a range of industries, including biotech and healthcare, and is willing to plough tens of millions of dollars into individual companies.
At the other end of the scale Google Ventures will also invest seed funding, with the common thread across the range of scales and industries it is looking at being a desire to find entrepreneurs “who are tackling problems in creative and innovative ways”.
Google has said that companies will not have to form to commercial agreements to receive investment and there will be no requirement to use the internet giant’s products.
However, Google has indicated that it believes its “active involvement will help to create value” and consequently will be working “work with management teams to maximise the impact of our investment and their technology or innovation.”
