CPhI 2009 - Road to recovery?
As CPhI 2009 draws to a close we take a look back on the show, which, despite some negatives, appears to have been an overall success.

Companies said that foot traffic was comparable to 2008 and that deals had been discussed at the show, which are positive trends given the current climate.

Further good news was heard from contract manufacturing organisations. These companies reported that business is improving after an 18 month blip and that the fundamentals of the model remain strong.

However, some sectors of the industry, notably smaller US-based companies, appear to stayed away to focus resources on Informex 2010.

Furthermore, business from small biotechs is yet to recover, according to a couple of suppliers.
These issues are understandable given the economic climate but overall CPhI 2009 appears to have been a success.
