Appointments at PharmaNet, Albemarle, VGXI and Ocimum Biosolutions – People on the move

Outsourcing-Pharma presents its latest round up of movements in the pharma outsourcing sector, including appointments at PharmaNet, Albemarle, VGXI and Ocimum Biosolutions.

Carl Spalding ​has joined the board of directors at PharmaNet Development​. Spalding was previously president and chief operating officer of Parexel and has also worked at Cardinal Health, Abbott Laboratories and Johnson & Johnson.

Albemarle​ has appointed Nicole Daniel​ as vice president (VP), chief compliance officer and corporate secretary. Daniel is assistant general council at Albemarle, a position she will continue in, and has previously worked at law firms.

Yvonne Verburgt ​has joined Avrio Biopharmaceuticals ​as VP of business development and marketing. Verburgt has more than 28 years experience in the pharma industry at a number of companies, including Pharmatek Laboratories, Patheon and Becton Dickinson.

VGXI​ has made three appointments. Firstly, David Weiner ​has joined the company’s scientific advisory board. Weiner is chairman of Inovio Biomedical’s scientific advisory board and professor of pathology and laboratory medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, US.

Also, Sandra Jones ​has been named as director of validation and David Colvin ​has been appointed as key account manager. Jones joins from Beckman-Coulter and Colvin from Merck & Co.

David U’Prichard ​has joined the board of directors at Ocimum Biosolutions​. U’Prichard also holds board positions at Life Technologies, Oxagen, Cyclacel and Silence Therapeutics.

AmerisourceBergen ​has re-elected Richard Gochnauer​, Edward Hagenlocker​ and Henry McGee​ to its board of directors.

John Ferris​ has been appointed as director of manufacturing engineering at Millstone Medical Outsourcing​. Ferris has more than 25 years of manufacturing and engineering experience at companies including DePuy and Flexcon Industries.
