Trial globalisation drives ClearTrial CTO upgrade

ClearTrial has launched an upgrade to its clinical trial operations (CTO) software, adding more country specific knowledge, such as labour rates, to help companies forecast costs and timelines.

In a globalised clinical trial environment an understanding of the characteristics of particular countries is needed to plan studies. ClearTrial has recognised this and incorporated knowledge required to forecast regional study costs, resource demand and timelines into its software.

Information on more than 80 countries is included in v3.2 of the software, including details of labour rates and tasks affecting study timelines, such as site activation and regulatory delays.

Expanding the software’s clinical intelligence makes it easier to model “what-of” scenarios that include emerging countries, explained ClearTrial. The package also features automatic conversion of alternate currencies to eliminate potential errors from manual input.

Another feature of the upgraded software is flexible enrolment specification. This provides global and region specific definition of trial enrolment and distribution to better accommodate differences in performance.

Forecasting is further enhanced by improvements to site approval capabilities. ClearTrial claims modelling has been made more accurate by the addition of user defined site approval curves and region specific site approval schedules.

Flexibility in defining pass through and miscellaneous costs has also been improved by allowing users to set levels at a study or location level. Also, costs can now be driven by specific study milestones and be distributed according to predefined curves, improving accuracy.

These features give “more flexibility in planning and tracking complex global studies” while ensuring the software remains “intuitive and easy to use for the wide range of organisations that we serve”, explained Mike Soenen, ClearTrial president and CEO.
