Appointments at Pfizer, Biocodex, Unigene, Pieris and Progenics – People on the move

in-PharmaTechnologist presents its latest round up of movements in the sector, including appointments at Pfizer, Biocodex, Unigene, Pieris and Progenics.

Pfizer ​has hired Michael Ehlers ​as chief scientific officer for neuroscience research. Ehlers has authored more than 60 scientific papers and held positions at Duke University, North Carolina, US.

Rajesh Gupta ​has joined Biocodex USA ​as director of medical and scientific affairs. Before joining Biocodex Gupta worked at Google.org’s Predict and Prevent initiative.

Unigene Laboratories ​has appointed Ashleigh Palmer ​as president and CEO, replacing Warren Levy​. Palmer has previously worked at Critical Biologics, Creative BioVentures and Ohmeda.

Laurent Audoly ​has joined Pieris AG ​as chief scientific officer. Audoly has also worked at Pfizer, Merck & Co and MedImmune.

Biogen Idec ​has reported it is in the final stages of selecting a new CEO and expects to make an announcement in the coming weeks. The new appointment will replace James Mullen ​who retired as president and CEO on June 8.

Geoffrey Nichol ​has been appointed as chief medical officer at Ikaria​. Nichol joins from Medarex and has also worked at Novartis and SmithKline Beecham.

Progenics Pharmaceuticals ​has elected Peter Crowley ​as chairman of its board of directors. Crowley replaces Kurt Briner, who will remain a director.

Mike O’Connor ​has joined Eli Lilly ​as director of state government affairs for Indiana, US. O’Connor previously worked as chief deputy mayor of Indianapolis. During this period Bart Peterson, now senior vice president of corporate affairs at Eli Lilly, was mayor of Indianapolis.

Myriad Genetics ​has elected Heiner Dreismann ​to its board of directors. Dreismann is spent 21 years at Roche before leaving the company in 2006.
