Oracle has introduced an integrated mass-serialisation and pedigree application to improve pharma supply chain integrity.

The Oracle Pedigree and Serialization Manager (OPSM) handles serial and ePedigree data as pharma products pass through the supply chain. This helps pharma manufacturers achieve compliance with emerging ePedigree regulations and combat the threat of counterfeits.

Jon Chorley, vice president SCM Product Strategy at Oracle, said: "Ensuring supply chain integrity is not only about compliance and protecting your brand, it is also about protecting your bottom line.

"By definitively identifying your products in the supply chain and providing a broad set of analytic insights on that data, OPSM will deliver both.”

OPSM works by generating, storing, transmitting and authenticating serial and ePedigree data. This extends to transmitting serial numbers to external trusted destinations, such as contract manufacturers and regulatory databases.

Users can keep track of data through role-based application user interface, portal, web services and file exchange. OPSM also includes business analytics to assess counterfeit threat.

The system is designed to reduce losses by improving the efficiency and accuracy of returns management. OPSM achieves this by using non-repudiation capabilities to automate the assessment and authentication of products returned against products shipped.

Parallel trade can also be tackled using the software. OPSM achieves this by giving users information that can help reduce the diversion of products from lower to higher reimbursement locations. Scrutiny of chargeback rebates paid to wholesalers is also improved by OPSM.

Oracle has built OPSM to run alongside and integrate with its other systems, and those of third-parties, which handle manufacturing, packaging, shipping and receiving.
