A 13 per cent drop in 2009 ended several years of increases in the number of animals used in pharma safety and efficacy testing in Great Britain. This drop, and the other ups and downs of the past decade, is displayed by the interactive visualisation below.
The dropdown menu at the top allows for the selection of the overall data from the past decade or a particular year. Selecting a group in the first graph filters the subsequent charts. This can be further filtered to give data for an individual species by clicking on the second graph.
