PharmaNet has launched its Initiator data capture and PKS analysis platforms in a bid to speed up data acquisition and processing of Phase I trial reports.

The US-based clinical development services provider claims the platforms offer faster access to real-time trial data, enabling sponsors to make informed decisions about their products earlier in the trial process.

Olivier Moreau of PharmaNet, told Outsourcing-Pharma: “Initiator is a data capture system used within clinical operations,” adding, unlike other data management technologies, the Initiator platform is fully touch screen capable.

He went on to say that Initiator allows all mobile workstations during trials to collect data directly on the station as well as on the server, which he says prevents potential network failure from disrupting Phase I clinical operations.

“Initiator is a full featured clinical trial management system providing study design, recruitment, data collection and reporting functionalities,” said Morceau, describing its capability of managing samples through barcodes that enable tracking from storage to collection.

Data analysis

The PKS system is designed to accelerate the analysis of the data collected using Initiator to help clinical trial sponsors and contract research organisations (CRO) make decisions faster, said Moreau.

He explained that the system can be directly connected to a Watson LIMS system, eliminating the need for manual data transcription and reducing the number of human errors, potentially making the validation and quality assurance process less complex.

With numerous clinical data management technology platforms at contract research organisations’ (CROs) disposal, Morceau reasoned that in recent years “there has been a rise in demand for electronic compliant systems.”

However, he added: “a fast market means fast deliveries, and electronic systems will be the norm within a few years, well positioning PharmaNet at the forefront of contract research.”
