Paris to host aerosol tech conference
The two-day show, which brings together aerosol and dispensing tech manufacturers from across Europe, has expanded to feature presentations focused on use of such systems by the drug and cosmetics sectors.
GlaxoSmithKline’s (GSK) new technologies and innovation expert Frank Slimani will open the pharma section of the event with a discussion on the use of ultrasound in the production of drug suspensions for inhalation delivery.
Other talks will focus on regulatory issues affecting drug delivery using aerosol technology in both the Europe and the US and on leachables and extractables in aerosol packaging used in drug delivery.
The afternoon session will concentrate on delivery devices and specifically on the use of aerosol technologies to administer over-the-counter (OTC) medicinal products.
The wider event also Features an exhibition area, workshops, the Paris Aerosol Awards and a full conference programme.
The show will be held at the Cité des Sciences et de lindustrie and, according to organisers Oriex, is expected to include more than 900 participants from this vital niche area of packaging.
Innovation workshop
The workshop innovation programme will be chaired by Michel Fontaine, president of the French Aerosol Council (CFA). Of the three key presentations in this section, those concerning plastic aerosols and technical and niche applications will be most interesting to pharmaceutical sector.
The presentation of Technical and niche applications for aerosols and dispensers will be given by Xavier Camidebach, sales director at Precision, as well as Jo Jackson, marketing manager for Colep CCL.
Paris Aerosol Awards
This segment of the conference will be preceded by the packaging by the Paris Aerosol Awards ceremony, which aims to reward the best innovations in the category and will also be accompanied by technical presentations to detail the winning products.
