Appointments at Quintiles, Synteract and MPI Research – People on the move

Outsourcing-Pharma presents its latest round up of movements in the pharma outsourcing sector, including appointments at Quintiles, Synteract and MPI Research.

Quintiles​ has appointed Jim McDermott​ as managing director of the market intelligence practice for the consulting group. McDermott has more than 30 years of biopharm experience, a third of which was spent at Decision Resources.

Ellen Morgan ​is to step down as president and CEO of Synteract​. Morgan co-founded Synteract and will now serve as chairman. Stewart Bieler​, chief operating officer (COO), will lead Synteract on an interim basis while the search for a new president and CEO is conducted.

MPI Research​ has named Tim Derrington​ as president and COO. Derrington last worked as CEO and chairman of Axient Research and has also held positions at BioReliance and Quintiles.

David Flick​ has joined CTI Clinical Trial and Consulting Services​ as information technology support specialist. Flick joins CTI from Robert Half Technology where he worked on projects for TriHealth.

Metrics​ has hired David Varley​ as director of manufacturing operations. Varley has 30 years of pharmaceutical manufacturing experience from working at Burroughs Wellcome, Glaxo Wellcome, ER Squibb, Purdue Pharmaceuticals, and, most recently, BioDelivery Sciences.

David Gill​ has been appointed chief financial officer at INC Research​. Gill served as board member and chairman of INC from 2007 and 2010 and has also worked at Transenterix.

American Peptide Company​has namedJohn McKinley​as senior marketing manager. McKinley joins from Bachem and has a genetics degree from University of California, Berkeley.

Brian Scanlan ​has been promoted to president and CEO of Cambridge Major Laboratories ​(CML​), succeeding Michael Major​ who is to retire having led the company for 11 years. Scanlan joined CML in 2002 and rose to the position of chief business officer.
