The Southern Research Institute has partnered with the Biomedical Research Foundation of Northwest Louisiana (BRFNL) on non-invasive preclinical imaging.

The US not-for-profit preclinical drug discovery and development organisation said that under the deal BRFNL will provide commercial imaging, radiopharmaceutical and radiochemistry services.

In addition BRFNL’s partner, the LSU Health Services Centre, has been subcontracted to supply Southern Research with other preclinical imaging and animal care services.

Andrew Penman, VP of Drug Development at Southern said: "This agreement provides us with access to state-of-the-art preclinical imaging facilities, a dynamic research staff at LSUHSC-S, and the opportunity to provide an increasingly important service to our bio-pharmaceutical clients."

Prior to this accord Southern’s most recent business expansion, in October last year, was through the acquisition of BioCryst Pharmaceuticals’ bioanalytical laboratory assets.
