US-based Pharmaceutics International, a contract development and manufacturing organization has added an MG2 G140 capsule filler to its oral manufacturing area.

The new machine has an output rate of 140,000 capsules per hour and can dose powder and pellets and, according to Pii, reduces production time and leads to lower batch costs for large scale manufacturing projects.

Pii spokeswoman Elizabeth Hickman told Outsourcing-pharma.com that: “We invested in this machine for a specific commercial manufacturing project... and to be able to meet larger annual commercial manufacturing requirements for other future projects.”

Pii has a Drug Delivery Solutions business initiative to develop formulations and delivery systems for a range of dosage forms such as solid, semi-solid and aseptic filling with optimized clinical profiles and higher commercial value.
